How-To assemble a KCT-11RS Keychain for best spin
Upon receiving your unassembled keychain, you should have (from left to right) compressor housing, long screw, impeller, 2mm washer, backplate, chain & ring, short screw.
Some tools you may need (from left to right) strong adhesive glue(required), machine oil, threadlock, small phillips screwdriver(required), Xacto knife, 2mm needle file(often found at hobby stores), multitool which includes flat file.
Clean up the metal burrs left over from manufacturing in the compressor housing. Opening the hole larger will allow greater airflow.
You should be able to see through the compressor outlet.
File down the metal burrs left over on the backplate. Make sure there are no sharp edges that can catch on the spinning impeller.
Filing or smoothing out the hole will most likely be needed. This is where the 2mm needle file comes in handy, although a fine-top exacto knife might also work in a pinch.
This is basically the assembly order. The washer goes between the impeller and backplate, the screw threads through the impeller, washer, and into the backplate. Do not overtighten, should only catch by about two to three turns.
The impeller should spin freely with little resistance.
Place the backplate onto the compressor (without glue).
Apply a drop of threadlocker into the screw hole. It should secure both impeller screw and chain screw.
This is the assembly order to secure the chain onto the backplate.
Once the backplate is entirely assembled, remove and set aside, apply glue to the compressor housing. Try not to apply too much, otherwise the glue could drip onto the impeller when re-assembling the backplate.
Re-apply the assembled backplate and firmly press.
Flip the keychain on its back and let sit for 24hrs.
Apply a couple drops of machine oil, wd40, or bearing oil. This is important to wait until after threadlock and glue has already dried.
